Review: Rimmel Scandaleyes Shadow Stick Bulletproof Beige

6 February 2014

Believe it or not, this is my first serious foray into the ‘chubby stick’ scene. You won’t catch me splashing the limited cash I do have on the original Clinique versions in these dire times. Is it just me or was anyone really unsure about how you’re supposed to use these little guys?
rimmel scandaleyes bulletproof beigerimmel scandaleyes bulletproof beigeAfter umming and ahhing for ages about the best way to use these shadow sticks, I did the opposite and used Rimmel Scandaleyes in Bulletbroof beige as a kind of eyeliner. Having used this on the lids, I wasn’t bowled over by the patchy finish. I must have missed the bit in the instructions where it says to work at the literal speed of light if you want any chance of this blending out smoothly. This seems to work better on other people so maybe I’ve got some mutation with my eyelids. But this stuff sets FAST and doesn’t budge.

However, the texture is TO DIE FOR. Creamy, pigmented and just stunning to look at when swatched heavily on the hand.

WITH FLASHrimmel scandaleyes bulletproof beigeHowever, much like a kind of makeup bloodhound, I try to sniff out other ways to use things that may have otherwise gone horribly wrong (we won’t talk about the time I used black kohl eyeliner as an eyebrow pencil). So I used this as an eyeliner on the lower lash line and in the inner corners to give my face a bright-eyed and bushy-tailed appearance. And by heck, I’m loving it. Again, I’ve napped with this on, gone running, sweated like a pig and rubbed my eyes with chilli fingers and this stuff was still pretty much perfect.

WITHOUT FLASHrimmel scandaleyes bulletproof beigeYou can see how it looks with and without flash (it looks amazing in bright light but is subtle enough for the office). Please excuse the weird lines in my pupils, I look like Coco the bleedin’ clown.

WITH FLASHscandaleyes bulletproof beigeFor under £5, these Rimmel Scandaleyes shadow sticks are pretty handy to have in your stash and I heavily suggest you get yourself down to Boots. And, if unlike me, your eyelids are of the normal variety then you’ll get even more use out of them but be warned about the quick setting!
