The hunt for the perfect mascara seems to be a never ending saga, so it was only natural I tried mascara of the moment, Maybelline Lash Sensational, which claims to lengthen and volumise lashes from root to tip.
Firstly, the plastic wand is pretty innovative, curved on one side, with the bristles varying in length. The short bristles help you get the tiny inner lashes and the longer ones are robust enough to get to your main lashes. So far so good. The curved wand also helps to give lashes a decent amount of curl – I didn’t curl my lashes in the photos above.
For me, Maybelline Lash Sensational doesn’t quite hit the mark in the volume department. Like, it’s fine but it’s not wow. This is probably due to the lightweight formula, which is pretty comfortable to wear. I just didn’t get that multiplied, layered look they were going on about.
One thing to note: when you remove this from your eyes, it doesn’t do that horrific panda-eye thing, it sort of flakes off – a bit like a tubing mascara – which is always welcome.
I’m not saying Lash Sensational is a bad mascara – it’s actually good, but I was expecting so much more. Nevertheless, I’ve been using it every day for work, but will usually opt for something else for night out.
All in all, a nice enough mascara for everyday use but I like my lashes really OTT so I probably won’t be repurchasing. Saying that, I’ve never really loved any Maybelline mascara so if you are a Maybelline die-hard fan this could very well be for you.
Maybelline Lash Sensational is available at Boots and costs £7.99
