NOTD: Barry M Gelly Nail Paint Chilli

22 October 2014

barry m gelly chilliWhen it comes to nails, I don’t give a monkeys about seasonal colours. All this mumbo jumbo about coral only being allowed between May and August or fingers snapping off if you wear black in July – no sir – I’m living my life.

I was swayed, however, by the Barry M AW14 collection. I went into Boots for a nail polish that for the love of God wasn’t red and left with a red nail polish. Seriously. I need another red nail polish like I need a hole in the head. In my defence, Barry M Gelly Nail Paint in ‘Chilli’ is all kinds of hot. Yes it screams autumn but I most definitely won’t be casting this aside come spring.

It’s a sensual mix of red, brown and maroon and looks friggin’ amazing on. So much so, I’ve been wearing it on the daily for a solid ten days. And only one digit has experienced any kind of chipping. Admittedly, I did use Seche Vite on top but I refuse to accept that this alone is the sole reason for the minimal chipping.

Barry, whoever you are, I salute you.

NOTD: Pastel Polka Dots

11 June 2014

pastel polka dot nail art.Just a quick one today because I’ve been summoned to iron questionable images onto t-shirts for a stag party Mr TBL is organising because apparently I ‘can do it better’. God help me.pastel polka dot nail art3pastel polka dot nail art2Anyway after I mentioned Rimmel Salon Pro nail varnish in Aqua Cool in my 5 Beauty Favourites Under £5 post, I had a hankering to use it again. I was in a nail art mood but wanted something a little less garish than the neon leopard print that sprung to mind. Polka dots seemed to fit the bill so I stuck to a pastel theme and dug out some white nail polish. I used one from Natural Collection (think it’s the nail tip whitener) along with an unbent kirby grip to dot on the spots. Simples really, any fool could do it, although the spots on my right hand were a little more haphazard. pastel polka dot nail art.

NOTD: Barry M Gelly Nail Paint Pink Punch

28 April 2014

In a desperate bid to stop my nails from forever snapping like an old granny’s hip joint after taking a tumble, I’ve been making an effort to treat them with a little respect and lavishing with plenty of amateur manicures. When my nails look nice, I won’t stick them in my mouth which makes them horribly soft and weak. I took myself down to Superdrug and bought myself a couple of Barry M Gelly nail paints, one of them being the inaccurately-named ‘Pink Punch’.

Pink Punch is an amazing colour for summer – it’s a proper full-on Barbie pink, bright and bold but not quite neon. I’m not even a massively pink person but this perks my hands right up, and I’ve been enjoying wearing it on long, pointed nails with lots of rings. I’m not going to claim it’s the longest lasting polish or that it only needs one coat but you cannot deny the splendour of that colour! Always a pleasure, Barry!
